Wicking Beds

Self-watering wicking beds for growing herbs, vegetables and ornamentals in Queensland conditions. A wicking bed holds a water reserve under the soil and draws moisture up to the roots as plants need it, so you water less often and plants stay evenly moist through hot, dry weather.

Start with the Millennium Trough with Wicking Bed by Deroma, a recycled plastic trough planter with a built-in water reserve, drainage plug and wheels, in two sizes and three colours. Then add what you need to fill and plant it: premium potting mix, coco coir mix, compost, vegetable fertiliser, sugar cane mulch and a moisture meter.
