For added height or load, the block cavities can be core-filled with concrete grout and steel reinforcement. The wall is then finished off with natural-stone capping.
A dry-stack wall is only unreinforced up to a limited height. Taller walls, load-bearing walls, driveway-adjacent walls, boundary walls and walls retaining surcharge generally need engineering, council approval, and the correct core-fill, steel and footing design. Rather than relying on a fixed height number, check your local council rules and speak with a certified engineer before building.
