The lintel block spans over door and window openings. Because its base is closed, you can prop a row of them across the opening, lay reinforcing bar in the channel and fill it with concrete - once it cures you have a proper reinforced lintel with exactly the same look as the rest of the wall. It saves fitting a steel angle or a precast lintel, and there's no join or colour change over the opening. Allow 2.5 blocks per lineal metre of span plus the required bearing each end, and check the bar size with your engineer.
Key Features
- Solid closed base holds wet corefill over an opening - no formwork required underneath
- Forms a reinforced concrete lintel in the same face as the wall, so nothing shows over the opening
- Replaces steel angle lintels and precast lintels - one material, one finish, no rust risk
- Also serves as a bond beam course where a closed-base channel is wanted
- ~20% lighter than the dense-weight equivalent (13.50kg vs 16.20kg)
- 120 per pallet; 2.5 blocks per lineal metre of opening
- AS/NZS 4455.1, Exposure durability grade
