A bond beam is a continuous reinforced concrete beam cast inside the wall itself, and this is the block that makes one. The internal webs are moulded thin so the bricklayer knocks them out with a hammer on site, turning the course into a long open trough that takes horizontal steel and concrete fill. Your engineer will nominate where bond beams go - commonly at the top of a retaining or boundary wall, at floor and roof level, and at intervals up a tall wall. Until the webs are knocked out it lays just like a standard block.

Key Features

  • Knock-out webs - form a continuous reinforced bond beam anywhere in the wall, on demand
  • Handles and stacks like a standard block until the webs are removed
  • The standard way to satisfy an engineer's horizontal reinforcement requirement in blockwork
  • Essential at the top course of reinforced retaining and boundary walls
  • Lightweight at 11.10kg vs 13.0kg dense-weight
  • 144 per pallet, 12.5/m2 - same coursing as the 15.01
  • AS/NZS 4455.1, Exposure durability grade
