The thickwall block is a fire-rated version of the standard 150mm block. It looks the same and lays the same, but the outer walls of the block are cast much thicker, which is what gives it a longer fire resistance period - Adbri's own data shows 180 minutes against 120 for the standard. Use it where the wall has to hold back fire: separating walls between attached homes or tenancies, walls on a boundary, and fire-isolated stairwells and service shafts. Always confirm the required FRL with your certifier, and note it comes 120 to a pallet rather than 144.
